Israeli drill myriad of pitfalls

senior Israeli official has said that the regime's recent drill indicates its vulnerability against 'possible chemical attacks'.

"We still don't have the best response for a chemical threat, we're not where we want to be, but in a few years will be able to offer a much better answer," home front command chief Major-General Yair Golan said Wednesday.

Golan, who held a press briefing on the recent Israeli drill, claimed that the cabinet was to refit “Israeli citizens with atomic, biological, and chemical (ABC) protection kits.”

"I assume that as we collect (the ABC kits), we will manufacture more of them as well, until we get to a point that every citizen has an updated kit," he claimed.

"This won't happen in a day or two," said Golan, adding that "we will be implementing a perennial work plan spanning three to five years."

The Israeli website DEBKA which has reportedly close links with military sources, reported on Tuesday that during the exercise most people did not know where to find public shelters.

The regime's nationwide military drill was reportedly aimed at "restoring its military deterrence, which was damaged in the 33-day Lebanon War".
