I found this instruction awhile back and it has completely changed the way I read my bible. I can now read through the entire bible in under 2 months, which means I can read it 6 times every year. It is amazing how much more you learn and remember when doing this. When I first read this it made so much sense so I dug right in and it really is amazing how much you retain doing it this way. Plus you get the big picture of God's plan and how amazing He has been all through the ages.

I hope you find this uplifting. Kathe

PS It is quite a long article but well worth the entire read. The first time I read it through I used the KJV and then switched to the NASB. It is just a reading bible, not a study bible. I get too distracted by the study notes in a study bible so I just stick with one bible for reading and my other study bibles for bible study.

Yes you can print this out. I actually cut and pasted it to a word file, then printed it out. I have a few printed off so when I get to talking to a customer about the bible I can just give them one.

I had a thought a few months ago about reading the bible. I thought, how would I feel if I was standing in front of Jesus and He asked me "did you read My Word"? and I hadn't. Or I only read through once. Or piecemeal? I would feel sick. I mean, this is His message to me and I didn't care enough to bother to read it regularly. Crazy. It shook me up and made me realize that reading my bible through regularly MUST be a priority in my life and my day.

Well I am gonna try this method.

I am reading the bible from start to finish right now but obviously not reading fast enough. I knew I had to do this for the same reasons as you Kathe. I knew that some day I would meet those who penned God's words aswell as the Lord.

OK! Last night I finished reading my bible completely through for the first time. Amazing. I feel like I've been given a wonderful gift. Today I start over in Genesis again. My plan this time is to read at least 1 hour per day straight through. Also I'm going to pick out 1 book of the bible each week and read it as many times as I can in that week in between other stuff that I'm doing and at night before I go to sleep. I'm so excited!! God's Word is contagious - the more you read it the more you want to read more.

I've also started our 7 and 9 year olds doing the same thing. My 9 year old finds a quiet spot and reads 30 minutes a day and my 7 year old and I read her bible before she goes to bed at night. It is really increasing their vocabulary. I'm amazed at the words they are saying and understanding from doing it.

One thing that I feel blessed with reading the bible and then rereading it again, whatever the case may be, new life is breathe into you. I may understand something that I didn't two years ago.

Our God is an Almighty God.

Deuteronomy 6: 5-6

And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:
